How does Craniosacral Therapy Work?

Craniosacral is a therapy that taps into your CNS, Central Nervous System, being made up of your brain and spinal cord. There is a fluid that surrounds this structure, the CNS, which protects and nourishes it as well as the membranes that make up the Craniosacral (CST) system. Working with this fluid and the structures within it balances the body’s ability to create equilibrium again. This therapy is a gentle, hands-on approach that releases tensions deep in the body to relieve pain and dysfunction and improve whole-body health and performance.

Every day ones body experiences different levels of hardship throwing off the body’s stability. This causes the bodies tissues to tighten and become distorted. Unfortunately, these changes cause tissues to lose connection within the Craniosacral system. This type of distortion can then result in tension forming within the brain and spinal cord. Restrictions that affect the body physically, mentally and emotionally will appear creating roadblocks to a healthy CNS and all other systems.

The particular limitations can be discovered and adjusted using simple forms of touch. A gentle touch from the practitioner by the use of their hands can evaluate the Craniosacral structure and feel its rhythm. By enhancing the circulation of the cerebral spinal fluid that encompasses the CNS, a greater level of healing and wellbeing is achieved.

Conditions Helped:

By regulating the atmosphere around the brain and spinal cord and boosting the body's ability to self-correct, Craniosacral Therapy is able to improve a wide range of dysfunctions, from chronic pain and sports injuries to stroke and neurological impairment. Here are just a few of many that CST can assist with:

·      Concussion and Traumatic Brain Injury
·  Mood Regulation
·      Sleep Difficulty
·      Migraines and Headaches
·      Chronic Neck and Back Pain
·      Autism
·      Motor-Coordination Impairments
·      Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
·      TMJ Syndrome
·      Scoliosis

How it came to be:

Osteopathic Physician John E. Upledger developed it after much research and testing at Michigan State University where he served as professor of biomechanics. CST is becoming more and more used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster resistance to disease, and it's effective for a wide range of medical problems associated with pain and dysfunction.

Jaymie offers craniosacral therapy at Core Essence and enjoys working with the patient through hands on healing techniques. She is truly gifted and intuitive at this modality! During her time in a coma she truly believes she experienced a glimpse of what Heaven is. This unique and deeply spiritual experience has allowed her to pick up on additional sensory input from the patient. It is a treatment that feels subtle to receive, yet its impacts are profound.
